Artificial intelligence enters the curriculum from next school year
The country is in a permanent budget imbalance due to the many social measures adopted in recent years. This was commented in Nova Zagora by the Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio. According to him, the budget is never enough, but the one for education is good against the background of the overall financial situation in the country.
„"Nevertheless, the funds for education will increase, and by a significant amount, and will allow salaries to increase by above the average increase for the budget sector. But I am refraining from giving you specific parameters, since in the coming days and weeks we will negotiate the increase mechanism with the unions, directors, rectors in higher education," said Valchev.
He also said that with the planned update of the curricula, topics related to artificial intelligence will be included in them, not only as a subject of study, but also as a learning tool.
„"By the beginning of the next academic year, 2026-2027, we will update the curricula with topics related to artificial intelligence. Mostly the curricula in information technology, computer modeling, but we will also include such topics in other curricula," Krasimir Valchev pointed out. He also said that a draft of a Bulgarian model for using artificial intelligence is currently being developed, which would support, rather than replace, the learning process.
In Nova Zagora, the Minister of Education participated in a ceremony to unveil a monument to Stoyan Omarchevski - a reformer of the literary language and founder of modern Bulgarian education.
